The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 - A production Mustang that will exceed 200 mph!
The 2013 Ford Mustang GT is not totally new, but it is completely improved.
The 2012 Shelby 1000 is a 200-mph, 1000-bhp Mustang created by Shelby American.
Just introduced at the 2012 Chicago auto Show: 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible
What we do know is that the 2013 Shelby GT500 Convertible is going to be wild. Under the hood is a 5.8-liter V-8 coupled to an Eaton supercharger, which delivers a massive 650 bhp and 600 lb.-ft. of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels and shifting will be handled by a 6-speed manual transmission.
A major attraction to the 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible is an enlarged engine compartment that will accept—if just barely—Ford’s big block V-8s.
In celebration of the U.S. Navy’s 100 years in aviation, Ford will be auctioning off a Blue Angels edition 2012 Ford Mustang GT.
In addition to interior and exterior modifications, performance has also been enhanced. The 5.0-liter V-8 found in the GT trim has a
Ford Racing supercharger bolted up to it, bumping output to 624 bhp. A performance exhaust brings out the engine burble, and the handling pack and race track brakes, all Ford Racing parts, will improve lap times.
EDIT for therealromeo:
Our source was Ford’s press release, which said:
“Under the hood, the “Blue Angels” Mustang is all performance with a Ford Racing supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine producing 624 horsepower. The Ford Racing components also include a handling pack, performance exhaust and racetrack brakes.”
