The 2013 Shelby GT350 will range from a 430-bhp natural aspirated version, to supercharged 525-bhp and tire-melting 624-bhp variants. Only 350 will be made.
The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 - A production Mustang that will exceed 200 mph!
The 2012 Shelby 1000 is a 200-mph, 1000-bhp Mustang created by Shelby American.
The 2011 Shelby GT500 Super Snake starts life as a customer-purchased 2011 Ford GT500 that Shelby will convert to Super Snake status for $34,245. It includes uprating the supercharger to a Ford Racing Whipple unit, helping the new all-aluminum 5.4-liter Ford V-8 make 750 bhp. More is available if so desired.
Aside from a well-sorted suspension, the Shelby GT350’s free-revving Whipple-charged 5.0-liter V-8 delivers all the power desired for the track and twice as much as is necessary for the street. It’s a car whose talents match its visual presence—both of which are never tiring.
Now playing: Shelby GT350
The supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 does its part as well, sending 624 bhp to the rear wheels via a short-throw 6-speed manual. Vents on its hood and front fascia are also functional, the latter helping cool the GT350’s slotted and drilled 6-piston brakes.
One shouldn’t judge a muscle car by its stripes.
Beneath the blue and white nostalgia resides modern mechanicals with fuel injection, 6-speed transmissions, traction control and ABS. The newest Dodge Challenger SRT8, an inaugural edition 392 model, rivals the performance of its present-day peers. The Shelby GT350 aims to repeat history, not on the track, but by raising a Mustang’s performance to the level of a sports car.
