There’s so much going on here. There’s Hill and Jackie Stewart on the front, Bruce McLaren and Jean Baltoise further back, Denny Hulme and Jack Brabham… 1969 was a good year for F1. Oh yes, it was.
The new Mercedes MGP W02 was unveiled today at the Valencia circuit in Spain, accompanied by drivers Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher. The big news: Mercedes’ 2011 car has KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System), which returns to F1 after a one-year absence. Also new are the Pirelli tires and a driver-adjustable rear wing that will aid overtaking.
The Lotus 125 is an exclusive ultra high performance F1-inspired race car, complete with a 640-bhp Cosworth 3.5-liter V-8 that’s linked to a 6-speed semi automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. Unlike a modern F1 car, an army of technicians and mechanics isn’t required to start the engine and keep it running.
