2013 Ford Shelby GT500 Cobra — an 850 horsepower one-of-a-kind Cobra built to honor the late Carroll Shelby.
The 2013 Shelby GT350 will range from a 430-bhp natural aspirated version, to supercharged 525-bhp and tire-melting 624-bhp variants. Only 350 will be made.
The 1962 Shelby CSX2000 was 4 in. shorter, 5 in. narrower and 200 lb. lighter than the first-generation Mazda Miata, yet, it has a 260-cu.-in. Ford V-8 stuffed under its aluminum hood.
What we do know is that the 2013 Shelby GT500 Convertible is going to be wild. Under the hood is a 5.8-liter V-8 coupled to an Eaton supercharger, which delivers a massive 650 bhp and 600 lb.-ft. of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels and shifting will be handled by a 6-speed manual transmission.
Super Snake
The 2011 Shelby GT500 Super Snake starts life as a customer-purchased 2011 Ford GT500 that Shelby will convert to Super Snake status for $34,245. It includes uprating the supercharger to a Ford Racing Whipple unit, helping the new all-aluminum 5.4-liter Ford V-8 make 750 bhp. More is available if so desired.
